During the quiet summer months, the College of Agricultural Sciences offers an opportunity to learn about what kind of research they do to better their community and advance food science.
The Oregon State University Organic Agriculture Field Day will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 3:30-7 p.m. at the Lewis-Brown Horticulture Farm located on Peoria Road off the Corvallis-Lebanon Highway. The horticulture farm is run by the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences.
The field day is a free event for both OSU students and members of the broader community and one of many that’s hosted in the state during summer.
The field day will cover a variety of topics that the OSU Organic Agriculture Team has been researching such as small grains and methods to keep fields pristine without use of pesticides, according to the event web page.
In addition, the team will answer any general questions the public may have regarding topics like soil management and foraging.
Attendees will get an opportunity to socialize while enjoying snacks prepared by local chefs and bakers that use locally sourced ingredients. Some notable ones include 1000 Bites of Bread and Hot Mama Salsa. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share ideas about how the program extension team can further support their community.
For more information and to register, you can visit the event webpage. The extension team asks that attendees register for the event by Aug. 1.
