The Oregon State University International Forestry Students Association and the International Association of Agricultural Students are hosting a free Thanksgiving feast for all community members, 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 26.
The Friendsgiving will be located at the Peavy Forest Science Center Atrium.
Everyone attending can expect an abundance of food along with international games to play. The food will be catered from Market of Choice, a grocery store in Corvallis.
Mouth-watering favorites such as mashed potatoes and green bean casserole will be served along with other options to satisfy those with food restrictions.
President of ISFA Jill Aire said in an email, “We chose a variety of dishes to accommodate food allergies and intolerances, and everyone will be able to find something to enjoy!”
Planning for the event began in August, when IFSA collaborated with its sister organization, IAAS.
“It was a natural choice to partner together and work as a team to apply for the Special Event Funding from the Student Experiences and Engagement Office,” Aire said.
The original inspiration for the event was to provide a meal to all the international students who are staying in Corvallis over Thanksgiving break, but the organizers later expanded the invitation to include the Oregon State community.
Anyone seeking a warm meal and a welcoming atmosphere are encouraged to attend.
“Our main intent for this event is to create a warm and welcoming place for people to share a meal with each other during the holiday season,” Aire said.
The ISFA and IFSA student organizations plan to continue working together to provide more international experiences for the OSU community.
