Does anyone need a furry friend this holiday season?
The student government Senate is hosting a meet and greet with Caesar, the no drama llama in an engagement event with the Oregon State University community.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3. at the Student Experience Center Plaza, this is the first event the Associated Students of Oregon State University is doing with Caesar the llama.
Chair of the Outreach Committee Camryn Lau said, “I think a lot of it just came from my personal affinity for Caesar, the no drama llama…and I thought it would be a good opportunity to really outreach with the community.”
Caesar has been a familiar face to OSU. Lau saw the llama during the past Spring term at an event with the Science Success Center.
“He’s just so adorable,” she said.
In addition to Caesar the llama, students can enjoy free warm drinks and treats from university catering.
Students can expect hot chocolate, coffee, tea and brownies. There will also be gluten free and vegan options as well.
Lau along with six other senators started planning the event near the middle of the fall term.
A lot of it is building awareness of the ASOSU Outreach Committee. During the event, there will be a voluntary survey that students can take, asking them questions about the university and what could be improved.
“Our goal is really just to meet the students where they’re at and have students know who we are, so that they know that they can come to us as a resource when they need help,” Lau said.
Embedded in the survey, students will have the opportunity to respond to get more involved with ASOSU. Students can be added to their newsletter to get connected that way.
The Senate meets at 6 p.m. every Wednesday in the Memorial Union, room 221. They welcome anyone who wants to see them in action.
