The year’s first monthly forum held by Oregon State University’s Advanced Research Computing Services will start on Wednesday, Jan. 14, and will discuss the yet-to-be implemented artificial intelligence supercomputer on campus.
The Supercomputer and You forum will be held in Kidder hall, room 202, from noon to 1 p.m., and will be held on the second Wednesday of every month until September 2026.
The forum aims to be less of a lecture series and more of a,“Working session designed to gather your needs, learn about your vision for what can be accomplished with the supercomputer, and benefit from your expert feedback,” said ARCS in a promotional article.
ARCS encourages students to provide feedback and questions so that the AI, when implemented, can be as tailored to students and faculty’s computational needs when possible.
The $25 million dollar AI Supercomputer is to be housed at the currently developing Huang Collective Innovative complex.
The computer comes courtesy of Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang, the CEO of American Tech Company NVIDIA and his spouse and co-leader of the Jen-Hsun and Lori Mills Foundation.
Complementary pizza will be provided at the weekly forum. Students with any questions about the forum should contact OSU’s director of Supercomputing, Dirk Peterson via email at [email protected], or visit the event page.
