Softball travels to Texas in pursuit of the postseason victories.

The Oregon State softball team will head to the postseason for the second season in a row and compete in the Waco Regional. Coming off of a 28-25 overall season record, the team will head to Waco, Texas to chase their postseason dreams.

Oregon State will be returning to the NCAA Tournament for the third time under coach Laura Berg.

“I am so proud of this team,” Berg said. “These ladies have been working hard since last fall and it is fun to see them get rewarded for that hard work. We have had some ups and downs this season, but we’ve grown as a team and will fight to make some noise in the postseason. Each team in our regional is very good and there is a reason why they are playing in the tournament.”

Junior outfielder Lovie Lopez felt excited the moment she saw Oregon State selected for the postseason.

“That’s what we wait for all year,” Lopez said. “Everything we do, we work up to getting to postseason. To sit there with our coaches and staff and see our name pop up, it was so fun and exciting. We were the last ones so the suspense was crazy. We were nervous, so it was a sigh of relief.”

Redshirt senior infielder Sammi Noland is prepared for the postseason run.

“The selection show was kind of nerve wracking,” Noland said. “We were one of the last teams to get picked but we’re so excited. I think we have some good mojo going into this weekend. We’ve had good practices this week and we’re excited.”

Lopez and her team did not let themselves relax after the selection, but instead focused on the regional.

“It’s a constant grind,” Lopez said. “We already had our minds set that we were going to postseason.”

Noland believes her team is prepared for the challenge ahead.

“We’ve talked about scouting reports and everything,” Noland said. “At this point, everyone’s good. We’ve got to bring our A-game. I think we’re prepared. We’re ready to go.”

First pitch is set for Friday, May 19 at 2 p.m. against James Madison and the winner will face the winner of the game between Baylor and Kent State.
