Friday night, the Oregon State Beavers soccer team played the Portland State University Vikings at Paul Lorzeno Field.
As the game started abruptly, the Beavers wasted no time putting numbers on the board. Within the first minute, senior Paola Figueroa buried a header off a corner kick from senior Megin Turi, setting the tone early for the Beavs.
A short amount later, Turi added another assist to her list. With a clean pass to the box, forward Carly Carraher was able to finish it, leading to a 2-0 lead.
Junior Nathalie Lewis assisted a goal from Carraher in the 16th minute, giving her a brace before the 20-minute mark.
The crowd cheered when midfielder Sawyer Service checked into the game. After great performances throughout her freshman-junior years, Service had made no field appearances in the 2024-2025 season due to tearing her ACL.
Though Service had just returned to the field, she quickly contributed to the scoreboard, sinking a header into the goal at 31:02. Service was met with yet another wild applause from the crowd and cheers from her teammates.
By halftime, Oregon State was up 5-0. The Beavers had eight shot attempts and could limit the Vikings to zero shot attempts in the first half.
Alssya White added to the Beavers’ scoreboard early in the second half, scoring their sixth goal one minute into the second half.
The Vikings also came out aggressively in the second half and scored their first goal of the game off a penalty kick after White added to the Beavs’ scoreboard, making the score 6-1.
The Beavers ended the night with a 6-1 win, continuing their spring season win streak.
For the final spring game, the Beavers will take on Peninsula College. The game will take place on May 24 at 2 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field.
