Despite a 43-12 regular season, the No. 7 ranked Oregon State baseball team won’t be hosting a regional to open the NCAA Baseball Tournament for the first time since 2023.
However, the Beavers will be staying in Oregon.
The NCAA selected the No. 14 ranked Oregon Ducks to host one of the 16 regionals to start the tournament, with the Beavers being named the No. 2 seed in Eugene.
Oregon State finished No. 18 in the rating percentage index, known as RPI, following the 2026 regular season, while the Big Ten runner up Ducks finished as No. 15.
So while the Beavers won’t be at home, they’ll be less than an hour drive away from their home field of Goss Stadium, playing on a familiar field.
Washington State and Yale round out the field of four – the teams will play in a double-elimination tournament starting Friday in the Ducks’ PK Park, with one team advancing to the super regional round the following weekend.
The Eugene Regional schedule will play out as follows:
Friday:
- Game 1: Washington State vs. Oregon State; noon PST
- Game 2: Oregon vs. Yale; 5 p.m. PST
Saturday:
- Game 3: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner
- Game 4: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser
Sunday:
- Game 5: Game 4 winner vs. Game 3 loser
- Game 6: Game 3 winner vs. Game 5 winner
Monday:
- Game 7 (if needed): Game 6 rematch
Opening the regional against the Cougars on Friday, the Beavers’ aren’t guaranteed a playoff matchup against the Ducks, even though there are several paths through which the two teams could face off.
Oregon State has already played both Oregon and Washington State in the 2026 regular season.
The Beavers went 1-1 in their two midweek matchups against the Ducks, winning a March 3 game 10-6 in PK Park, but dropping an April 22 home game 7-3. The two teams were originally scheduled to play a third time at a neutral site in Hillsboro April 15, but the game was cancelled. Now, the two teams could get a rubber match after all.
Oregon State has also split its games against Washington State so far this season, winning the first of a two-game road series in April with a score of 18-0 in seven innings, but dropping the second game 7-6.
The Ducks, Cougars, and Beavers all used to be part of the Pac-12 conference. Oregon State baseball has been independent the last two seasons, but will rejoin Washington State in the new-look Pac-12 starting next season.
The Beavers have not faced Yale this season. The Bulldogs currently hold a 30-13-1 record after winning the 2026 Ivy League Tournament.
If Oregon State wins the Eugene Regional, the team will face the winner of the Austin Regional (No. 6 Texas, Holy Cross, UC Santa Barbara, Tarleton State) in a best-of-three series the weekend of June 5.
